Karyn Tirabassi, CPSM

Director of CPSM Certification

By Virginia Steigerwald

Karyn Tirabassi’s journey to successful A/E/C marketer started ten years ago when she began working as a Marketing Coordinator at Capaccio Environmental Engineering. Prior to working in AEC, Karyn worked for almost 15 years in A&E (Art and Entertainment) marketing, which was business to consumer; quite different from AEC and business to business marketing. Karyn, however, was excited for the change in focus. As an advocate for the environment from a very young age, Karyn felt her life was coming full circle. At Capaccio, she could market services which would make the world a better place to live in and which were in line with her values and beliefs.

Ten years later, Karyn is still at Capaccio, and is now Senior Marketing and Business Development Manager. She stays busy juggling a variety of marketing and business development tasks. Her greatest passion is being able to use her creativity to get points across to internal and external customers which she has successfully applied to the AEC industry.

Karyn’s SMPS journey closely mirrors her jump to AEC in 2008. Upon being hired, Karyn’s boss suggested she check out SMPS to get some tips and to learn best practices in the industry. Attending SMPS proved to be very valuable and after being a member for five years, Karyn decided to learn even more and studied to become a Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM). Since then, Karyn has continued to be an active member of SMPS and participates in various capacities as a volunteer and currently serves on the SMPS Boston Board and is the Director of the CPSM Committee.

Being a part of SMPS and the committee has given her more professional confidence at work and with her peers, more insight into best practices in her profession, and more personal confidence.

Outside of work, Karyn is an avid boxer, loves any type of outdoor activity, and especially loves hiking, skiing, and camping. She also enjoys traveling and spending time with her three daughters and dog, Mandy.
