Living this year’s theme, SMPS Boston made sure to Shake Things Up at ABX, the Northeast’s largest design and construction industry event. As with years past, we partnered with ABX early on to find speakers for the majority of the Show’s marketing and business development sessions. We proudly attracted more speaker session proposals than any previous year and featured speakers from as far at Utah and as close as Boston. We partnered with AGC MA to talk about inclusionary design, sold-out our member staffed Marketing Audits for the first time, celebrated SMPS’ new brand and our ABX volunteers with fresh-off-the-press SMPS Boston t-shirts and were inspired by SMPS Deputy CEO, Tina Myers and Boston Chapter President, Valerie Puchades as they spoke about Business Transformed through Marketing Leadership at the SMPS/ABX Reception.
On the left-hand side of the massive exhibition hall, you could find our SMPS booth. We proudly displayed our new logo which represents the bold, focused, and motivated voice the SMPS brand has recently adopted. Our new logo is more than a new color and friendly font. It represents SMPS’s commitment to become an even more vital tool and resource for all A/E/C companies while strengthening the importance of marketers and business developers as a whole. In order to showcase this new approach, we had Certified Professional Services Marketers (CPSM) provide feedback on visitor’s marketing materials when they stopped by our ABX booth.
One hundred and eight educational sessions were spread out over the two days at ABX. SMPS sponsored five of those sessions, covering a wide variety of marketing and business development topics.

After two incredible days of presenting our new brand, fostering new connections, and learning from experts, we ended the conference with an SMPS reception. Excited guests discussed their favorite sessions, showcased their new wisdom, and questioned their different ideas. After all the raffle prizes were claimed, we raised a glass to a job well done and the promise of ABX 2019.
