It’s back-to-school time, which means it’s a new program year at SMPS Boston. Our 2017-18 theme is Elevate, and I’d like to challenge you to elevate your career by becoming a CPSM! For those of you who don’t know, CPSM (Certified Professional Services Marketer) is the professional certification of SMPS, “a mark of distinction for professional services marketers and business developers, raising their standing with their employers, peers, and the public.”
SMPS Boston currently has 31 CPSMs; 16 of whom have attained their certification since the launch of our CPSM Committee, which was established to ensure that our chapter stays at the leading edge of professionalism. One of the committee’s primary responsibilities is to run the CPSM study group, which prepares candidates to take and pass the CPSM exam. (The study group is free to all, regardless of SMPS membership status.) I would like to thank the committee members past and present for their hard work and dedication to help me and so many others meet this career milestone!
A note to perennial candidates and near-candidates: this is the perfect time to make the commitment to become certified. Here are few reasons why:
This is your year!
To me, CPSM is four letters signifying a commitment to the best practices of Professional Services Marketing. But don’t just take my word for it. Here’s what some of my colleagues have to say about elevating their careers:
“CPSM justifies my value, lends credibility to my work, and provides best practices benchmarks.”
“Earning my has CPSM has given me greater knowledge of A/E/C Marketing and confidence to execute my ideas.”
“CPSM validated me in the BD/Marketing field and opened up A/E/C doors in my career.”
“Earning CPSM provided me with the right credentials for my profession, which is something my firm values highly.”
“Pursuing CPSM exposed me to personal and career growth. I met great people and was privy to a wealth of resources!”
If you have at least four years of professional services marketing and/or business development experience and would like to learn more about studying for and taking the CPSM exam, please join us at an information session on Wednesday, October 11th at Shawmut Design and Construction on Harrison Avenue in Boston – click for more details. We’ll have several CPSMs in attendance to give you an idea of what would be in store, answer your questions, and offer that last bit of encouragement. We hope to see you there!
