Rise & Lead: Going Full Frontal – Leveraging Your Brain for Business Success with Emotional Intelligence

Grab your coffee and join us for our new Rise & Lead Series! These bi-monthly morning professional development sessions will be focused on providing information and skills to senior-level marketers; however, all are welcome.

Think about all the information you have regarding what it takes to be a successful executive. Now forget it. That’s right, dump it from your brain. Every day you play a game of mind versus matter in a VUCA environment (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity), on a field of COVID-19 business challenges. You solve many of your problems with routine tasks and not much thought. However, when a more difficult challenge arises, your thinking becomes vulnerable to past brain patterns that can lead you astray. We often leap to solutions that don’t work. We fixate on old mental models that keep us stuck in the past. We overthink the problem, often making it worse. We kill others’ ideas, securing our place in the status quo. Even worse, we keep doing the same thing over and over again, naturally and instinctively.

Then your emotions go haywire. You feel stuck. Helpless. Like you’re going to lose it. You can’t think straight and your decision-making becomes impaired. You’re suffering from a post-pandemic amygdala hijack. When trust is low and emotions are high, you need to go full-frontal to manage your and your team members’ brains.

We need to respond differently. We need to drive our brains and not let our brains drive us, especially our emotional brain. We need to go full frontal.

After attending this session participants will be able to:

  1. Elaborate on how the brain science of emotions drives your behavior under pressure.
  2. Increase your awareness of the situations that put you at risk of having your emotions lead to unskillful behavior and poor decisions.
  3. Explore strategies to exercise the frontal lobes of the brain thus increasing the ability to compete and think differently
