This annual SMPS Boston event is designed to help beginner and intermediate level marketers up their game through various educational sessions from experts in the field, lunchtime conversations with colleagues, and inspiring keynote speaker, Mary Abbajay. With Mary, we will explore the benefits of mindfulness as well as developing a growth mindset to enhance resiliency. Following Mary’s keynote, our seasoned session leaders will offer their expertise.

In this interactive and eye-opening presentation, Mary Abbajay will explore techniques and strategies around mindset and semantics, brain science and habits, the benefits of mindfulness as well as developing a growth mindset to enhance resiliency. Mary Abbajay is the author of the best-selling, award-winning book Managing Up: How to Move Up, Win at Work, and Succeed with Any Type of Boss. She is also the president of Careerstone Group, LLC, a full service organizational and leadership development consultancy. In addition to her role as a contributor, her work and advice have appeared in the New York Times, Harvard Business Review, Fast Company, Forbes, The Financial Times, Money Magazine, Southwest Airlines Magazine, Monster, and the BBC.

From his home in Boston, he has worked with many of the world’s most prestigious organizations including OceanSpray, Novartis, The Boston Public Library, Harvard Business School and Northeastern University. In his session, utilizing a unique theater-derived approach and practical “on-your-feet” exercises, David will help you use your body, your voice, and nimble thinking to engage the audience with warmth, confidence, and clarity. These confidence-building skills can be used to not only improve your own public speaking, but marketers can bring these new skills back to their own offices to help their technical staff.

In her session, Tammy will share with attendees the basics of adaptive leadership/management and why it’s most effective, help identity who you are working with, and best practices in adult learning techniques.

Elizabeth Tuico, Principal, Rebel Road Creative
Self-Care for Marketers
With over 25 years of experience in the A/E/C industry, Elizabeth launched Rebel Road Creative, a portfolio consultancy specializing in A/E/C marketing and corporate wellness. In 2011, she began teaching yoga, pilates, and meditation classes and continues to study with many renowned yoga masters. Her favorite engagements are the result of combining both business lines into one program. With employee burnout being a serious concern in the A/E/C industry, Elizabeth’s session will share techniques on how to reduce stress while working on a deadline, as well as simple strategies to calm your mind and improve your spirit, so you can be more productive.

Leading the Go/No Go Process
Aurora has spent her career in the AEC industry developing new client relationships and project opportunities with a mission to create and maintain positive, long-term business relationships. A member of the Board of Directors of CoreNet Global New England Chapter, she is often a featured guest speaker on topics such as networking, business development, and authentic leadership. In her session, Aurora will explore how making good decisions about which clients and projects to pursue starts well before the RFP shows up in your inbox. Participants will learn how to prepare their teams for the inevitable go-no-go decisions that are best for your business.
