Big Brother Big Sister Foundation Needs our Help!

For the past 11 years, SMPS Boston has held an annual clothing drive and has donated money to Big Brother Big Sister Foundation (BBBSF). Their mission inspires our members and we are proud to help them continue to empower under-resourced youth in our community. This year we need to do a little more.

Steve Beck, whom many of you have met at our annual holiday parties is asking for help. Donations have been lower than normal this year and BBBSF is struggling. They have an opportunity in front of them to expand to other states, but they need more funds to help them do so.

Their goal is to raise $15,000 and SMPS Boston wants to help them do it. SMPS Boston will match every dollar our community donates up to $1,000. Let’s show BBBSF what we can do when we all work together. Every single dollar counts and donations can be as little as $10.

Here’s how to donate:

Between today and May 28th go to https://www.crowdrise.com/donate/charity/bbbsfma and choose your donation amount. In the comment box write SMPS Boston. On May 28th we’ll tally up the donations made by the SMPS Boston community and cut a check for the same amount, up to $1,000. You don’t have to be an SMPS Boston member to make your donation count, you just have to write SMPS Boston in the comment box so please pass this request along to your network.

BBBSF rarely asks for monetary donations so when they ask you know it’s important. Here are just a few ways they are helping our community.

  • BBBSF is a true charity; 100% of monies goes to BBBS mentoring agencies
  • Their administration costs of only 12.6% is among the lowest in the country
  • The MA Clubhouse Coalition members they employ save their communities $240,000/year in services
  • They give coats, blankets & warm weather gear to hundreds of homeless and under-served people
  • They give new bicycles to over 1,000 children annually
  • They provide musical instruments to children who are unable to afford them

I’m making my donation now and I encourage all of you to do the same. Thank you for continuing to support this important organization!
