Hat Trick at the 2021 Pivot & Focus Awards!

SMPS Boston took home three 2021 Pivot & Focus Chapter Awards at the SMPS Build Business Evening of Excellence event on August 5, 2021:

  • First Place Extra Large Chapter. This is the fifth year SMPS Boston was recognized as an outstanding chapter—last year we took home the Grand Prize and the previous three years we took home the 1st Place Extra Large Chapter.
  • First Place for Special Event for our Virtual Awards Gala – Red Carpet Ready. Our special events committee pivoted to an uncharted virtual format to recognize the best and the brightest in AEC Marketing with an engaging red-carpet themed event. 115 members and peers joined the Zoom festivities on June 25, 2020.
  • Outstanding Award for Social Media for our Make It Happen Vlog Series. Suzanne King, SMPS Boston President, Sabrina Bauer, SMPS Boston Director of Communications, and Amanda Alcamo, Communications Committee Member & Blog Manager, and In Kind Sponsor Glenn di Benedetto of Green Light N Go, who provided video recording and editing, worked together to develop three engaging vlogs with Acentech, Smith Group, and Nitsch Engineering.  These vlogs highlighted marketers’ contributions to the A/E/C industry, built our reputation amongst technical staff and marketers in the industry, and intrigued new members—and in January 2020, the Marketers Make it Happen vlog series was born!

These awards are a mark of how the 2019-2020 board of directors and volunteers Made it Happen under Suzanne King’s leadership as chapter president. These wins recognize and celebrate the continued strength of the Boston chapter—especially facing challenges of 2020 with creativity and flexibility.

“The 2019-2020 programming year started strong, and as the scope of the pandemic’s challenges became clear, our Chapter rapidly adapted,” shares Suzanne. “With constant communication and flexibility, we reimagined programming and member benefits. Teamwork. Dedication. Imagination. Care. Our Chapter volunteers proved to be unstoppable in 2019-2020. We learned new technologies. We laughed a lot. Juggling work, families, and a host of uncertainties, the Boston Chapter Make it Happen for our members.”
