Special Events Committee
The Special Events Committee recently added a new event to their planning: the Chapter’s Fall Networking event. The Committee also orchestrates the winter Holiday Party, including a clothing drive for Big Brother Big Sister, and the Annual SMPS Boston Awards Gala, which recognizes the achievements of Marketing Professionals of the Year, New Members of the Year, and winners in various marketing communications categories. Committee members are responsible for event planning, organizing the call for entries, managing the judging process, and developing the final presentation for the Gala held in June.

The Communications Committee manages all of the communication channels for the Chapter. As a part of this, the committee maintains the SMPS Boston website, publishes the weekly E-Flyer, manages the public relations program, sets up online event registrations, and manages social media channels including our blog, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, and LinkedIn pages.

Professional Development Committee
The Professional Development Committee provides marketing-focused educational programs to members and non-members, marketers, and technical staff in the built environment. This year’s educational events include two expert panels, a series of topic-specific lunches, and a Marketing 101 boot camp. In addition, the committee organizes informal happy hours, known as the Mix @ 6, that follow the late afternoon educational programs.
The Membership Committee encourages chapter enrollment through organizing the membership drive, supporting SMPS recruiting efforts, welcoming new members, and aiding with member retention. The committee plans and coordinates annual events including the Spring New Member event and our Summer Social.

The Programs Committee organizes industry-specific special interest programs and events involving prominent industry leaders, public officials, media figures and programs surrounding potential project opportunities. Committee members can market their firms and help determine program topics for the entire organization.

The CPSM Committee is focused on supporting our Chapter’s existing Certified Professional Services Marketers (CPSMs) and providing guidance to members who would like to become CPSMs. They plan the annual CPSM study group and CPSM only events.

The Outreach Committee is responsible for building awareness of SMPS Boston and its members as a leading resource for business development and marketing expertise in the AEC industry. It does this by developing strategic relationships with peer industry organizations to provide educational programming and networking opportunities to the SMPS membership.
Outreach also aims to build awareness of AEC Marketing as a career path, better establish SMPS as an expert resource, and provide unique opportunities to our members through three core paths:
- Promote SMPS Boston at ABX each year through coordinating speaking opportunities, booth presence on the show floor and hosting a networking reception for conference attendees
- Peer organization partnerships; developing partnerships for co-creation and/or co-sponsorship of programs that expand member benefits beyond the chapter.
- Create stronger relationships that benefit our members and our partner organizations
