Director of Marketing & Communications

The Director of Marketing & Communications will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the Tighe & Bond brand and driving growth initiatives that are aligned with and support the execution of the company-wide strategic plan.

A Top 10 New England ENR Design Firm, Tighe & Bond serves hundreds of public and private clients from nine offices strategically located across Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and New York. The preferred office location for the Director of Marketing & Communications role will be either our Westfield, MA headquarters or our recently expanded Worcester, MA office.


The Director of Marketing & Communications will possess the professional insight and skill sets necessary to develop, execute, and lead all aspects of the marketing and communications function.

Bachelor’s degree in business, design, marketing, communications, or technology; advanced degree preferred 

20+ years of progressively responsible marketing experience with strong knowledge of proposal processes; proven track record in a consulting or professional services environment

Proven ability to build, maintain and influence relationships at all levels

Strong consultative leadership skills in client and cross-functional situations

Exceptional team player with the confidence and integrity to earn and sustain client and internal team member confidence quickly

Excellent listening, presentation, writing, and editing skills

High level of comfort with a fast-paced environment that requires ability to multitask and
quickly synthesize multiple sources of data

Disciplined individual who demonstrates a strong work ethic and the ability to balance competing priorities and multiple projects concurrently

Experience working with a multi-office firm is preferred; demonstrated team leadership skills

Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) credential is a plus 

Proposal Development Support and Production:

Manage, oversee, and be actively involved in the writing and preparation of responses to RFQ/Proposals; ensure that decision-making on pursuits conforms with the firm’s strategic goals

Implement best practices for responding to RFP/Proposals and internal business development processes

Strategize and drive the process for the preparation, execution, and feedback loop for client interviews

Own the client feedback and retention process

Information Systems, Data Management, and Analytics:

Evaluate and implement improvements to our marketing and data information systems

Oversee development of reports/dashboards to senior leadership with specific insights and recommendations

Stay abreast of and interpret market and industry trends, competitive analysis, and marketing, communications, and business development analytics

Brand Steward:

Implement strategies to evaluate, continuously improve, and clearly communicate the intended image and brand message of Tighe & Bond

Ensure the brand identity, positioning and value is consistent across organizational communications, i.e., that all business entities speak with one voice and to all audiences


Oversee development, production, and distribution of all marketing and communication, traditional, and on-line content and materials to be sure they maintain firm standards

Thought leadership, content marketing, and social media functions

Public Relations, Speaking Engagements, Awards:

Facilitate and oversee public relations

Help advance speaking opportunities and awards that showcase organizational leadership

Oversee and participate in marketing presentations, in-house marketing meetings, trade shows and award submissions, and other important marketing events and activities

Planning and Strategy:

Lead annual development of the overall integrated marketing and communications strategy based on brand positioning objectives and revenue objectives

Develop and manage the annual marketing and communications budget

Actively involved in all marketing and communications initiatives to meet specified quality, time, and budget guidelines

Team Leadership & Staff Development:

Lead, manage, and mentor a marketing team of at least 5 direct reports located in various offices
Ensure proper allocation of resources to support all marketing and business development activities
