How has your SMPS membership benefitted your career?
It’s given me confidence in decision making, planning, and leadership skills.
What was your favorite SMPS event to date?
The Chapter’s Annual Awards Gala – every year. But the 2020 virtual program was such a fun and creative event, it is my hands-down favorite.
What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?
I do not watch a lot of TV (doesn’t everyone say that?), but I did watch The Queen’s Gambit on the recommendation of a friend. I loved every moment of the show. I watched a few episodes of, “Call the Midwife” with my boyfriend’s mom but never got into it. She passed last year, then my mom died this year, so I started watching it again recently to celebrate them both. Oh, and anything on the Hallmark Channel because they both loved those hokey shows (as do I).
Name: Britt-Anya Bursell
Company: Harris Miller Miller & Hanson Inc. (HMMH)
Title: Marketing Manager
Years Involved in SMPS: 4
Committee: Special Events
Personal SMPS-Related Awards: New Member of the Year 2018
How has your SMPS membership benefitted your career?
My membership has introduced me to so many great people in the industry. Through these relationships, I have received advice, support, and guidance, especially in some new to me aspects of AEC marketing. I found out about the job opening for my current position because of a relationship founded through SMPS.
What was your favorite SMPS event to date?
The 2020 June Awards Gala. Planning this event is always a huge project but we faced the new challenge of planning a virtual event this year. The Special Committee did an amazing job with some fantastic ideas on how to keep our audience engaged. It was such a fun event to both plan and attend.
What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why did you choose to watch it?
HBO’s “I’ll be gone in the Dark,” a documentary on the Golden State Killer. I am fascinated with true crime. SSDGM to any fellow muderinos out there!
